A buckler is a small shield that is gripped in the fist. This one is solid steel and with a steel/wooden handle
The buckler was generally used as a companion weapon in hand-to-hand combat during the Middle Ages, as its size made it poor protection against missile weapons, such as arrows, but useful in deflecting the blow of an opponent's sword or mace.
The buckler was more widely used than is commonly known. It was a simple yet effective weapon, often combined with a short sword, falchion or rapier.
This battle ready buckler is made from 1.8mm steel.
The steel & wood handle is attached with double rivets .
