A steel reinforced shield with arm padding and enarme straps. The profile of this shield is curved and is much larger than a buckler. It has been designed for use in combat, this has been tested by re-enactors, SCAdians, HEMA rapier combatants and has also been used in Battle of the Nations combat.
More correctly known as a Rotella in Italian, Rodela in Spanish and a Target in English. Sometimes also known as a Rondache or Rondel. Commonly used throughout the 16th century and well into the 17th century.
