This sword is a replica of an elaborate and impressive piece of history, the Langeid Sword. Found only in 2011 in Langeid, Norway, this sword is somewhat of a mystery to archaeologists. It is unusually adorned with various symbols: ancient runic characters, Latin letters and Christian iconography, most of which are yet to be deciphered. Nevertheless, it is an exquisite find, and is currently residing in the Museum of Natural History in Oslo.
Our faithful recreation displays the unique designs in a mixture of tin and brass, accompanied by a brass wire wrapped grip. The sword itself is a standard size for the era, and comes with a stiff leather wrapped scabbard with a decorated wooden hook.
The pommel is held in place by a brass pin from the underside, this is a typical method of the era.
Deepeeka claims that this sword is battle ready, but we are yet to fully test it here at Medieval Fight Club. We recommend further rounding of the blade tip before use in reenactment.
