Description
Bronze drinking horn mount shaped like a seabird's head. Found in a female grave in Norway, but probably made in the lands bordering the Irish Sea. It strongly resembles tip mounts of horns shown in the scene of Earl Harold's drinking party on the Bayeux Tapestry. A slot in the slightly parted beak could serve a suspension strap.
