The Thraex was a type of Roman gladiator, also called the Thracian. He was armed in the Thracian style, with a small shield called a parmula, and a short curved blade called a sica.
The Thraex helm is very distinct, featuring a large plume, wide brim and face covering. The plume is thick and broad, featuring two brass arrows on either side. The brim is segmented and quite wide, featuring a swan prominently on the forehead. The visor consists of two face plates that hang from the brim and join in the middle; which also have very distinct eye coverings: a lattice of brass circles pinned to either side of the visor.
A perfect addition to Roman reenactors, history collectors and all gladiatorial combat fans. If you don this helm though, there will be no mistaking you as a Thraex gladiator. Let's hope your combat skill can match their reputation!
