Axes - who else loves them as much as the Vikings? This axe, one of the many types of Viking axes - is called the Mammen Axe. Named after the grave in which it was found, the original axe belonged to assuredly someone important. It was elaborately decorated, in-laid with silver, and etched with an amazing swirling design that has inspired many recreations in art today.
This particular recreation (understandably) has no silver, but the head is made of carbon steel, and is affixed to a hardwood haft. The head is etched in a perfect recreation of the original etchings, and the haft is medium-length - perfect for single handed axe work.
We at MFC recommend further blunting of the axe points before use in reenactment combat.
