The War Hammer - one of, if not the most broadly underrated melee weapon of history. When many think of medieval fighters, they imagine someone heavily armoured wielding a sword and a shield - this is only one side of the story. In the hands of a knight, a sword is perfect for despatching unruly peasants or some young brigands, but it would be almost entirely useless against a similarly armoured opponent.
Enter the warhammer - top heavy, brutal, and perfect for smashing armour to bits. Older than the sword, and able to be wielded as effectively and beautifully.
This particular warhammer is modeled after a 15thC European Foot soldier's weapon. It is short, light, and handles much like an axe. This hammer features a convex striking face, intended for beating in armour, and a long spiked end designed to puncture and pierce.

Wood looks fine but what ever was used to coat it isn't the best, nothing a quick strip and linseed won't fix.

It sits well in my hand and is perfectly balanced.
The head is burnished nicely and the shaft is smooth but easy to grip.
I am in love with it.
