The Phrygian helmet was also commonly known as a Thracian helmet and was used in Thrace, Dacia Magna Graecia and even more widely throughout the Helenistic world during the classical era. The names given to this style of helmet are because of the similarity in shape, specifically the forward inclined peak of the caps of cloth and leather as worn by the Phrygian and Thracian Peoples.

This Phrygian helmet is made of a reddish bronze and is sporting a magnificent beard. See large photos for more details.

Hat circumference: 61cm
Helmet Height: 43cm (not inc plume)

The Phrygian or Thracian helmet is most well known by its use by King Philip and his Macedonian cavalry and depictions of infantry on the sarcophagus of his successor Alexander the Great.
