The fletching is what stabilizes the bolt as it flies through the air. A LARP bolt's fletching plays a very important role: due to the large, padded head the bolt has completely different aerodynamics than a traditional target point or broadhead bolt. In case of damaged or missing fletching, the bolt will "turn around" while flying, and hit the target with the with the nock rather than the head.

The safety arrows (and the safety crossbow bolts) from IDV engineering are therefore equipped with a captive and almost unbreakable fletching, reliably performing its task even under the most extreme conditions in live action role playing.

These fletchings are generously sized, completely surrounding the shaft in one piece so as to minimise the possibility of breakage. An extremely tough and flexible elastomer plastic provides optimum durability and convincing safety.
