I have a cunning plan...

No, we aren't talking about that Baldrick. We mean the useful kind!

A Baldric (sans 'k') is the name given to a belt or harness upon which you mount your weapon or instrument. Typically, it straps across the shoulder or the waist, depending on comfort and the weapon in use. Where a frog is an independent hanger that attaches to a separate belt, a baldric is typically the entire set or harness. However the terms are often used interchangeably.

This baldric can be used either across the waist or the shoulder, but across the shoulder is the preferable option. It provides more support than the waist without restricting arm movement. Either way though, the sword will sit at your hip, resting inside two adjustable straps, one shorter than the other. This arrangement forces your scabbard to rest at an angle around 30 to 45 degrees -- perfect for an easy draw.

The strapping is brown leather, with nickel rings, buckles and rivets. And to boot, Baldrics have been around as long as people have worn belts. This makes them perfect for any reenactment period, costume dress or cosplay.
