The Seax is one of the staple weapons of the dark ages. Single edged and of various lengths, it was could be the main weapon of shield-bearing warriors, or even the side-arm for those with spears; the seax, hadseax, scramaseax (and all it's variations) is as efficient as it is versatile. Seaxes usually featured a point, and was also used to despatch wounded foes wearing maille. The shorter versions would be for close quarter combat, (like a shield formation), and the longer ones would evolve into the single-edged short swords of the time. And that's just it's combat potential. The seax was also a common cutting tool, hunting knife and cutlery; you just couldn't leave your house for the day without it.

This one in particular, a hadseax, is a middle-ground combination of a short seax and a langseax. This hadseax is full tang and fairly long with a wicked, curved hardwood grip and brass furnishings. It comes with a leather horizontal scabbard. The blade is blunted but still has an acute point, and a single fuller near the false edge.

To make this blade suitable for reenactment combat, we at MFC recommend further blunting of the edge and the point.
