This Australian made sword pairs our combat tested practical trooper blade blank with our ornate bowl guard for a classic 19th century trooper sword combination. The sword is combat ready and complete with a peened full tang. Upon rounding of the tip this trooper sword would be a great starter for use in Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) sparring. The four piece English style hilt features a ornate bowl guard, wired leather grip, and a steel backing plate and ferrule (connecting binder). As all parts are hand made, variations may exist in the alignment of grip parts, particularly the backing plate which may not run completely parallel with the grip.

The design: The British army experimented with many designs during the 19th century and army committees were regularly established to design the perfect sword combination of cutting and thrusting. The designs were never fully successful, yet despite this the trooper's sword in various styles were still used throughout the British empire.
