The Cinquedea, Cinqueda is a civilian short sword developed in northern Italy and used extensively during the Italian renaissance of the 15th and 16th centuries. Cinquedea means "five fingers", which refers to how wide the blade is at the crossguard. They were typically heavy, featuring a concave guard and short grip. Although it was mainly used for thrusting like most daggers, the cinquedea's wide blade also allowed for effective slicing attacks.

Our recreation features the classic wide blade with single fuller, a heavily curved steel crossguard, a wooden grip adorned with decorative brass plates and a stiff red leather scabbard with brass chape and brass neck, attached to which are two belt rings.

Deepeeka claim this blade is battle ready, but we are yet to fully test it here at Medieval Fight Club. We recommend further rounding of the tip before usage in reenactment.
