This pair of Roman leather scale leg greaves offer protection for the lower leg, up to 335mm high. They have been designed to protect the lower legs of Roman cavalrymen. They are constructed of thick leather scales attached to a backing of suede leather using brass rivets. They lace onto the shins with leather cord lacing.

Historically they were often made in matched pairs (a pair of greaves), greaves may be constructed of materials ranging from padded cloth, leather to steel plate.
