Historical Sources: One of the popular types of leg protection in the middle of the XIVth century, namely brigandine-and-splint leg protection was used together with brigandine-and-splint armor protection. Such armor was completed with plate shoes, sabatones. Brigandine-and-splint armor of Kaiser Gunther von Schwarzburg (mid-XIVth century) was not the most expensive, but very elegant armor. Its owner was a knight who was lucky to become a kaiser for a year (and he wasn't lucky then as he died "from a long illness" after the accession of the new kaiser).
