The Bardiche - Medeival Europe's response to the Dane Axe.

In essence, the Bardiche is an axe, just with a much larger and more elegant blade. In use, it remains the same as an axe, as you can't exactly improve upon the tactic of swinging sharp and heavy metal at your enemy - we've been doing that since we learnt to smelt!

The Bardiche features a very long crescent blade, giving the weapon fairly good reach despite being the shortest of the polearms. It also differs from other polearms in the weight of its blade, relying on that to do damage more than its range. Used with two hands, it is an excellent choice for cleaving as well as despatching heavily armoured opponents.

This Bardiche is blunt, but still features an edge that is less than 1mm thick. It also features two points that are extremely acute. In its current state, it is not suitable for reenactment combat. It requires further blunting of the points and the edge. We also recommend to replace both the pole with a harder wood and the screws with rivets before use in combat.
