This particular model is dated from the end of the third century BC or the beginning of the second. Discovered in Thrace it is not from a Greek manufacture (they had many pieces) and therefore may very well pass for a Thracian or a Roman model.

The cheek plates feature a loop to secure the helmet in place. A tie is used to secure cheek plates under the chin when worn.

Circumference: approx. 650mm

Attic style helmets can clearly be seen in this sculpture in the Vatican museum.

The Attic helmets are originally from Greece and they were made in the late 4th century BCE. They were popular in Greece, Macedonia, Thrace and possibly as far as Carthage. Examples have also been found in Italy and are thought to have been plundered by Romans and adorned for use in their own campaigns.
