For the price...wow These look a lot like mid fourteenth century German hourglass gauntlets. There's an effigy, forget the name, with a knight wearing ones just like these (finger lames and all). I ordered these and crossed my fingers but I was very pleased. I'm stuck between sizes and usually go for large but mediums were all that was available. Since their mediums are actually a size 9 that's roughly my size. At first I though they were a bit snug but just wearing them a bit they loosened up nicely. The large size must be for a guy with very large hands. These are made quite solidly and although I haven't sparred in steel with these yet I've done some tests and played with Nylon wasters in them and they really protected my hands nicely. I might rig a "full thumb" for these but otherwise I really like 'em. For the price...Hourglass gauntlets are usually quite expensive and these are just right for my period and my budget.

Great gauntlets These are excellent gauntlets. Fairly comfortable, good mobility (after removing the palm strap) and extremely durable. One of the best items I have bought from MFC, and highly recommended.

Excellent gauntlets! Snap them up! I borrowed this pair from a friend to fight with at a recent event, and they were GREAT protection for unarmoured longsword. The many lames overlap, and are well constructed, giving excellent protection, and the dexterity is great. This is top quality hand protection at a very low price.

As mentioned above, the buckle in the palm strap is a bit annoying, but that is simply fixed.

These are GREAT gauntlets for HEMA or SCA cut and thrust. they would be pretty good for armoured work as well.
