Weighs: 333grams
Length: 320mm  (12½ inches)

Distinguished from other spears of the time by its lack of mid rib. Similar in shape to a smaller spear known as the sarissa or sarisa. The sarisa was a 4 to 7 meter (13-21 feet) long pike used in the ancient Greek and Hellenistic warfare. It was introduced by Philip II of Macedon and was used in the phalanx formation as a replacement for the earlier dory, which was considerably shorter.

Military / Peasant Fork
Military fork head designed for re-enactors. This, like most of our pole arms has been hand forged from one piece.

Weighs: 450grams
Length: 320mm (13 inches)
Width of fork: 130mm (5 inches)

A military fork is a pole weapon which was used in war in Europe between the 15th and 19th centuries. Like many polearms, the military fork traces its lineage to an agricultural tool, in this case the pitchfork. The military fork was rarely barbed and normally only consisted of two tines (prongs).

We recommend filing/grinding the ends of each fork to be round before using in safe combat.

Partizan (partisan)
A partisan (also partizan) is a type of polearm that was used in Europe during medieval times. It consisted of a spearhead with protrusions or flanges on the sides, which aided in the user in parrying sword thrusts. Like the halberd, it quickly became obsolete with the arrival of practical firearms, though it stayed in use for many years as a ceremonial weapon after it had become obsolete.

Brass Butt Spike
Weighs: 480grams
Length: 305mm  (12 inches)
Width: 25mm (1 inches)
There is a lot of speculation as to the purpose of the dory's butt-spike. In addition to providing stability, the butt-spike could serve as a secondary weapon. In combat, not all of the enemy fatalities would be immediate. The butt-spike could have been useful in finishing wounded enemies as the formation advanced over them. Another use of the feature might have been that by lodging the butt-spike into the ground a hoplite may have been able to stand the Dory upright when he was not holding it. A bronze shoe (also known as a butt-spike) that would allow it to be anchored to the ground to stop charges by enemy soldiers. The bronze shoe also served to balance out the spear, making it easier for soldiers to wield.

 Halberd
A halberd (or Swiss voulge) is a two-handed pole weapon that came to prominent use during the 14th and 15th centuries. Possibly the word halberd comes from the German words Halm (staff), and Barte (axe). The halberd consists of an axe blade topped with a spike mounted on a long shaft. It always has a hook or thorn on the back side of the axe blade for grappling mounted combatants. It is very similar to certain forms of the voulge in design and usage.

Length 490mm

No pole included.
